The Benefits of Family Blogging

Blogging has become a common pastime for people these days. While it is nice to have a place where you can freely express yourself, many enjoy family blogging. There are a few benefits this has to offer that you should know about.

Keeping in Touch with Relatives

Family blogging can bring the family closer togetherIf you have family and friends that are scattered across the country or even the world, it is nice to know that you can easily keep up on their daily life as though they still lived close to you. When you publish new posts to your blog, you will be able to show others the things your family is experiencing. It could be anything from a funny antic from your toddler or pet or something serious, like an engagement. You can let your entire family in on the event without having to repeat yourself again and again. Even if you are simply in college and want to help your family at home know how you are doing, this can be a great choice.

Keep a Timeline

As a parent, it is nice to go back and see when different things happen in life. This can help you remember things like when your child lost their first tooth or the time they won a big soccer game. Even if you do not have children, a family blog can help you to see your journey in life laid out in this manner.

Great Way to Bond

Making family blogging something your family works on as a whole, you can have chance for bonding time. You can talk with them about the things they want to put on the blog and discuss the situations you encountered through the day. It is a nice way to keep an open dialogue going with your children. It is even a great way to build your child’s imagination and strengthen their logic and reasoning.

Teach Your Kids About the Computer

Technology is an essential aspect of the world today and this can give you the opportunity to teach your child about how to work with computers. Even if they are not old enough to know what they are typing, you can still show them what you are doing. You can even let them help, such as by finding the right icon and clicking or picking out the pictures they want to put up. For older children, you can help them learn how to type and even how to navigate around the Internet. While they will learn much of this in school, it is nice to give them a head start on this while getting to spend quality time with them.

Helps You to Get the Pictures You Want

Having children can make for a busy day. This can often lead to picture opportunities being missed. When you have a family blog though, you will find that you miss less of these opportunities. This is because you will start thinking about pictures you can use on your blog, since just text makes for a boring blog. Whether it is the look of accomplishment when your child finally learned how to spell a word they have struggled with or the excitement of spending a day at the beach, you will know that you have the pictures that really capture the essence of your time with your children.

Family blogging can be a wonderful experience for you. There is no right or wrong way to design or handle your blog. You have control over when you post, what you post and how you post. However, if you are new to blogging, it can be helpful to look at some guides on blogging and to read a few family blogs first.
