Coast style inspired home on a budget and how to do it?

 Choosing Colors.

Picking a color for your home and its scheme is a critical step. Of all the things to decide, choosing the color scheme is the most time consuming of all. However, if you want to style your home beach inspired, choosing white as your color scheme should be the predominant color in your beach inspired home. There is no strict and firm rule when it comes to decide a color though, but sticking to just one or two colors  is a very budget-friendly way to a beach inspired home.

Choosing the Accessories.

This is the saviour of a dull looking room. Accessories are your heroes because they have the power to turn a plain-Jane room into a fancy-Nancy one. They easily help capture one’s attention and create a way to go coastal look on a budget. Why? The things you need to decorate your home are objects found at the beach/ the sea shore, and found objects are free and always a great catch because they are uniquely designed by the nature. To add more beauty in accessorising your home, just be green and leave any living “critters” alone. If you find a shell, make sure it is empty so it won’t contribute a lovely look and a great smell in your dwelling space. It doesn’t hurt to soak shells, rocks, etc. in a mild bleach water solution to clean them and remove any remnants that may cause odors and then rinse and dry them before displaying them.

Slipcovers and Soft Furnishings.

For this part, using slipcovers can transform shabby furniture into a chic looking one and can be achieved relatively effortlessly to your desired coastal look. For the fabric you need to use, look for muslin or osnaburg for they are less expensive compared linen and canvas. There are also several ways to spice up a slipcover, yet the most simplest thing to do is to drape your sofa in fabric and add ties. If you have the skills or know a friend who can sew, then a custom made slipcover for your sofa will help the furniture appear  expensive.

Wood Furniture Ideas.

Your old fashioned, antique, outdated wood furniture can be transformed into a shabby chic, with a touch of coastal look. All you need is the furniture, paint and sandpaper, however if you do not have time to do such, you can check used furniture stores or thrift stores for some great deals. You can save even more by looking for a distressed and dinged items. If you desire to do the distressing all by yourself, for a beginner, do it yourself by a slap of paint and sand it off and do it again. It is a great fun doing this.

  1. Ohh, I love reading about DIY ideas. As you said, “”coast”” style doesn’t need much, just items that can be recycled and repurposed. And it’s great.
I agree that picking a color is hard as there are so many options and at the same time you maybe love one bright color but you think that maybe it would be better to choose something that makes you calm and relaxed. And it this situation I think that it’s better to use neutral colors, like light brown, nude or even light blue, and then you can give an accent and bring brighter colors with help of decorations. And what is great is that if you really choose to use there “”calm”” colors, you can change decorations from time to time as you can combine neutral with almost everything.
